Corruption and Sania Mirza
No links? How can India’s current craze be linked to corruption? Well last year India’s rating in honesty levels and Sania Mirza’s rating in world ranking was almost same at around 100. Now she is ranked below 30 and India remains almost where it was in the least corrupt states ranking. India should emulate Sania and be somewhere around 30, said Central Vigilance Commissioner P. Shanker yesterday at the Ahmedabad seminar on ‘Leadership and Integrity for Better Governance’ organised by the Ahmedabad Central Excise Zone. The CVC also said:-
• corruption in India could be reduced by simplifying the government procedures
• Simplification is necessary for small and medium industries which do not have the financial capacity to hire an advisor to understand the law
• Make people aware of their rights. For this the Right To Information Act can be put to optimum use. This will increase the accountability of officers
• Existing systems need to be improved. Every department has to open doors for debates and discussions between senior and junior officers
