Income Tax evasion – go to the Schools
The Bangle Desh IT department has found a novel method to unearth tax evasion. They had gone to the top schools to find information about parents. According to the investigation on the American International School and the International School Dhaka, National Board of Revenue sleuths found that more than 500 local students have been studying in the two schools.
These schools charge Tk 1.0 million on an average for each student as tuition and training fees. “But this is ridiculous as the guardians of the students have each declared annual income of only Tk 100,000 in their TIN returns," said Khairuzzaman Chowdhury, Chairman NBR. There are many poor parents in India who pay anything from Rs 1 Lakh to Rs 20 Lakhs as donation for a seat in many schools and colleges.
