Board circulates Supreme Court order
A cryptic circular from the Board says, “Please find enclosed herewith a copy of the Supreme Court order 01-03-2005 in Civil Appeal Nos. 2816-2818/2002 in the matter of Commissioner of Central Excise, Nagpur versus M/s Simplex Mills Co. Ltd. for information.” You can get the order in 2005-TIOL-68-SC-CX-LB. The order in effect held that Grey cotton canvas cloth is classifiable under Chapter 52 and not 59.
