US Customs Chief resigns
The head of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Robert Bonner announced his resignation after overseeing the agency's transition to a front-line component of the war on terror. Bonner had taken over the day before 9/11. - "That began my challenge to secure America's borders from terrorists and other criminals without choking off the flow of legitimate trade and travel, which is so vital to our economy," he said. Though reasons for his resignation are not available, it is known that he was at odds Homeland Security Secretary on control of civil air patrols over Washington area between Customs and Coast Guard.
