Imports under Free Trade Agreement with Sri Lanka
As per Notification No. 26/2000- cus , certain goods imported from Sri Lanka are exempted subject to certain conditions. Now the Government has amended the notification to bring in certain major changes.
In case of apparel, the exemption will apply to a quantity of 8 million pieces in a calendar year, all of which shall be manufactured from fabrics of Indian origin exported from India to Sri Lanka. Earlier the restriction of Indian origin was only for 6 million pieces.
The exemption is also increased to 100% where it was 50% earlier.
