WCO to hold 2006 IT Conference & Exhibition in India
Mr. Michel Danet, WCO Secretary General, and Mr K.M. Chandrasekhar, Revenue Secretary, Government of India, announced yesterday in Brussels that the 2006 WCO IT Conference & Exhibition will be held from 6-8 April 2006 at the Taj Residency Hotel in Bangalore, India. The theme for the event "Outsourcing and Off-Shoring - Solution for Customs?" will address strategic, legal and technical issues related to this topic.
India in general and Bangalore in particular, is one of the leading IT centres worldwide specializing in outsourcing. Outsourcing has become a strategic option also for Customs administrations, enabling them to concentrate on their core functions, while staying abreast of the latest technological developments.
The Conference is being organized by the WCO in close co-operation with the Indian Customs administration and will provide participants with the opportunity to get insight into the latest developments in the Customs and business worlds and discuss the many challenges and opportunities.
The parallel Exhibition will offer networking opportunities, enabling participants to obtain first hand information from suppliers and users on solutions, technologies and trends. Participants will also discover innovative logistics and business solutions, software and services and meet professionals willing to share their experience and give tailor-made advice.
The event will be of particular interest to senior Customs officials, business leaders, government representatives, industry experts, and lending institutions involved in international trade and economic development, according to a WCO press release.
