But why are you ignoring the poor DRs?
But strangely in this scheme of things only the pampered commissioners and their equally pampered Divisional officers are prominent. Nobody has thought of providing a cell phone or a laptop or a car to the poor Departmental Representatives who slog it out in the Tribunal arguing their lungs out for thousands of Crores of Government Revenue. A DR has to carry huge bundles of case files in a public city bus and has no access to a proper computer or software like ExCus or TIOL’s XCuSE and has to use his personal mobile at his own cost if he has to make a call. This shows how much importance the Revenue gives for defending its own huge cases!
What will the poor DR feel when he finds his colleague, the divisional Assistant Commissioner making a call from his mobile at government expenditure, while traveling in a government paid taxi ( assumed to be non airconditioned) browsing the latest in his government provided laptop? Why should he win that case for the government?
