What does Income Tax Department do?
APPARENTLY they are all very busy -if you see the Action Plan for the officers for the first quarter of 2015-16, circulated by the CBDT. Time frame has been fixed for various items of work by the officers - for example, the Commissioner (Appeals) is required to dispose of at least 120 old appeals in the next three months.
The officers may not perform as desired in the Action Plan, but still it instils a sense of responsibility on them and many of them will try to do what is possible.
