CBEC plans for Promotion of more than 100 Additional Commissioners as Commissioners on ad-hoc basis - List includes five retired officers

CBEC plans to promote about a hundred Additional Commissioners as Commissioners. The 1992 IRS batch would be covered. The list of proposed officers, who are likely to be elevated as Commissioners, includes the names of at least five officers who have already retired!

For the first time in many years, some promotee IRS officers are likely to become Commissioners.
