Legal Metrology Act comes into force from today in Customs Tariff Act
SECTION 57 of the Finance Act 2011, stipulated substitution of the words "Standards of Weights and Measures Act, 1976" with "Legal Metrology Act, 2009" in section 3 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 in sub-section (2), in the proviso, in clause (a), with effect from a date to be notified by the Government. Now the Government has notified 1st day of August 2011 as the date for this amendment to come into force.
