Earth quake Control Room Number – Two officials, two reactions

The NDTV newsreader called up the SP of Andaman and Nicobar on phone to find out the latest situation about the quake.

SP: There is no loss of life or property, no need to panick…….we have set up a special control room....

NDTV: what is the control room number?

SP: (apparently he did not have the number with him) Well, we have a lot of numbers...WHICH NUMBER YOU WANT?

A few minutes later, NDTV called up the Visakhapatnam District Collector. The Collector was at the beach and personally certified that water level has not risen and he gave the control room number and NDTV prominently flashed it to the world.

We blame the government often little remembering the fact that it is the officers of the Government who can make or mar the Government’s image. See how two officers reacted to an identical situation.
