6% hike in pay for Central Government employees

Government has announced a 6% hike in Dearness Allowance to its employees with effect from 1.7.2007. Government employees get a DA hike every six months based on inflation. The present rate after the hike is 41%. The babus will get the DA instalment in cash. Long ago there used to be a system where the arrears used to be deposited in the GPF accounts of the employees.
