Has Google insulted the National flag?
A concerned netizen wrote in, “I think their way of celebrating Independence day is in bad taste. Isn't the National flag supposed to be shown fluttering in the wind or at least upright on a pole??? Will someone take action ???”
As per the Flag Code of India, the Flag shall not be used for commercial purposes in violation of the Emblem and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950;
As per THE PREVENTION OF INSULTS TO NATIONAL HONOUR ACT, 1971,disrespect to the Indian National Flag means and includesputting any kind of inscription upon the Indian National Flag and such disrespect is liable for imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both.
As per Section 3 of theTHE EMBLEMS AND NAMES (PREVENTION OF IMPROPER USE) ACT, 1950, Notwithstanding anything contained in any law for the time being in force, no person shall, except in such cases and under such conditions as may be prescribed by the Central Government use, or continue to use, for the purpose of any trade, business, calling or profession, or in the title of any patent, or in any trade mark or design, any name or emblem specified in the Schedule or, any colourable imitation thereof without the previous permission of the Central Government or of such officer of Government as may be authorised in this behalf by the Central Government.
The Indian National Flag is specified in the schedule.
We can’t imagine life without Guru Google, but may be this time around, they have violated a couple of Indian Laws. Please observe, the ‘O’ in Google is the Ashok Chakra of the flag.
