Notification No. 61/94 notifies the various airports. Pune has been an airport only for unloading of certain goods now it is made an airport for unloading of all imported goods and loading of export goods. This notification actually expired on 26th September, 2003. The government vide Notification No. 157/2003 dated 20th October, 2003 again imposed the anti-dumping duty from the original date. Now based on the findings of the designated authority that the domestic industry has not suffered any material injury due to these imports and on the recommendation that it be discontinued, government has rescinded Notification No. 157/2003 thereby discontinuing the anti-dumping duty.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong><a href="http://www.taxindiaonline.com/RC2/subCatDesc.php3?subCatDisp_Id=23&filename=notification/custom/2005/ctariff05_101.htm">Notification No. 101/2005-Cus., Dated: December 9, 2005</a></strong></font></p> <p align="center"><font color="#006600" size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>Clearance of imported goods without payment of duty EOU – Simplified procedure</b></font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">As per the existing procedure EOU/EHTP/STP units are required to register with the Customs at the port of import repeatedly when imports are made through different ports causing delay in clearance. Board has now devised a simplified procedure for facilitating easy clearance. These units can apply for registration with any expected port of import and the registration will be granted within five days. Who is responsible?</font></p> <p align="center"><font color="#006600" size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>Transparency International’s Corruption Barometer</b></font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Transparency International has just released its Corruption Barometer based on an opinion poll for the year 2005 and India does not really fare well.<br> <br> Countries where political parties are the most corrupt institutions - Indians believe that political parties are the most corrupt, followed by Police, legislature and Customs.<br> <br> Where corruption affects political life to a large extent. More than 70% Indians believe that corruption affects political life.<br> <br> The biggest pessimists: Indians are the biggest pessimists- 78% believe that corruption will increase or are they realists? <br> <br> Cost of corruption: An Indian pays 102 dollars as bribes in a year while it is 45 in Pakistan and 205 in Cameroon. An Indian household pays about 10 to 20% of the per capita GDP as bribe while it is less than 10% in Pakistan.<br> <br> Bribery – demand and supply.
