PIL against Service Tax collection by BSNL
The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court has admitted a PIL to prevent BSNL from collecting Service Tax from its customers. According to the petitioners, the Service Provider is required to pay the Service Tax and not the service recipient and BSNL cannot shift the burden to the consumers.
