Delay in Sanction of Prosecution - 28 Cases as on 30.11.2011
FORGET the sanction to prosecute request from private citizens, the Government Departments do not easily sanction prosecution requested by CBI. Sanction is to be given or rejected within a period of four months. CVC reports that as on 30.11.2011, there are 28 cases pending sanction. Three cases are pending for more than two years and the latest case is pending for more than six months. The major share of pending cases is from the Revenue Department – 5 from CBDT and 4 from CBEC. Now, perhaps CVC can invoke the latest Supreme Court judgement to force Heads of Departments to decide on sanction to prosecute.
