Don't Visit North Block For Transfers – CBEC Tells Officers

CBEC Member Sharma has issued a letter to the field has asked the officers not to visit the Board office for transfers. “I am sure you would agree that it puts pressure on the time schedule of senior officers and at times which causes embarrassment too”, he says.

He has informed the Chief Commissioners that, “no officer from the field offices should visit Board Office with the sole purpose of putting his/her request personally. You may, therefore, ensure that officers leave their Headquarters to visit Board Office with your permission for urgent/important assignments only. The officers visiting on official visit should also refrain from meeting senior officers to put forth their personal grievances regarding AGT, 2009.”

Last year CBDT had issued a similar letter and while reporting that in 26.05.2008, we had asked, Will CBEC issue a similar circular?

This year the transfer shop has to be closed soon, as transfers cannot be made after the elections are announced. By the way is AGT 2008 finally over? During the last one year, the CBEC issued 33 transfer orders – on an average one every ten days. There was not a single month in which there was no transfer order.
